Our Mission –

The Wetland Trust (TWT) is a 501C(3), not-for-profit New York Corporation that uses the best science available to protect and restore wetlands and unique wetland biodiversity with special interest in amphibians and reptiles (herpetofauna). TWT presently owns 26 properties covering 1,600 wetland acres. Guided by science and supported by stewardship assets, grants, donations, and wetland mitigation fees, TWT actively conserves wetland resources through:

  • Acquiring critical wetland habitats that support populations of rare and endangered herpetofauna, insects, plants, and ecological communities
  • Restoring altered and degraded wetlands
  • Collaborating with university researchers on our preserves and other lands to develop habitat and population management strategies for promoting the recovery and long-term conservation of endangered herpetofauna
  • Working with students, private landowners, and volunteers to foster wetland biodiversity education and land stewardship
