Our Mission
The Wetland Trust (TWT) is a 501C(3), not-for-profit New York Corporation that uses the best science available to protect and restore wetlands and unique wetland biodiversity with special interest in amphibians and reptiles (herpetofauna). Guided by science and supported by stewardship assets, grants, donations, and wetland mitigation fees, TWT actively conserves wetland resources.
TWT presently owns 84 properties covering 2,800 wetland acres.
We actively conserve wetland resources through:
Acquiring Critical Wetland Habitat
Acquiring critical wetland habitats that support populations of rare and endangered herpetofauna, insects, plants, and ecological communities
Restoring Altered and Degraded Wetlands
on our preserves and other lands to develop habitat and population management strategies for promoting the recovery and long-term conservation of endangered herpetofauna
Collaborating with University Researchers and the Community
Working with schools, students, private landowners, and volunteers to foster wetland biodiversity education and land stewardship
Enhancing Herptofaunal Populations
on our preserves and other lands to develop habitat and population management strategies for promoting the recovery and long-term conservation of endangered herpetofauna
